New For 2008! Outdoor Cooking Demonstrations

Be sure to catch an outdoor cooking demonstration by Marty Koch; topics include The Paddling Gourmet, The Art of Campfire Cooking and Campground Cooking, How to Eat Well at the Campsite. An experienced guide and outfitter, Marty has led thousands of people on outdoor trips and outings. These educational and tasty seminars will be held in the south end of the building. You will enjoy the campsite like surroundings as you relax and take in a seminar.

New For 2008! Passport Fair At The Sportshow!

To make the passport application process more convenient, the U.S. Postal Service will offer a special Passport Fair at the 66th Annual Des Moines Boat & Sportshow. They will be located in booth number 117. Their hours of operation will be Friday, 2 – 9 pm, Saturday, 10 – 9 pm and Sunday, 11 to 5 pm. You may save time by having the application form filled out before coming to the Passport Fair. Visit the U.S. Postal Service website at www.usps.com/passport.

What you need:
1. Original embossed Birth Certificate or original naturalization papers.
2. Two (2) passport pictures (we will do for $15 if they choose).
3. State picture I.D., preferably a driver’s license.
4. Two (2) forms of payment:
a. 1 check made out to U. S. State Department (no cash)
b. 1 check made out to U. S. Postal Service (or cash) for processing fee.
5. Completed form DS-11 (passport application)
6. If applying for children under age 14 both parents must be present.
7. If applying for children 14 and over one parent must be present.

Note: Standard processing only which takes four (4) to six (6) weeks processing time.

Trout Pond

Introduce kids to fishing at the Willow Creek Trout Pond. Kids will love the thrill of catching a fish at the trout pond.  This feature is located at the North end of the hall.

The Travelin' Fish Tank

Don't miss this 40-foot long giant aquarium filled with 5,000 gallons of water and stock with a variety of native fish. Daily fishing demonstrations by Gary Hain give you a rare underwater view of how fish react to and strike at various types of bait and fishing techniques.
